Today I enjoyed: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Well, "enjoyed" is not the right word here. While it was not awful, it also was not good really.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts still feels like transformers, but that is the most positive thing I can say about it. Nothing really stands out positively, only a few jokes actually work, the characters make some really dumb decisions, big parts of the story were audaciously copied from former movies and why the heck does a Transformer have feathers?!
To me, it feels like this franchise has hit the end of the road for good now. I did not enjoy the former movies as much either and this one just put the last nail into the coffin. And I really liked the first two or three movies, because they were competently done and just good unapologetic action fun. Michael Bay style.
But after this movie I just feel like I am waving a former friend goodbye one last time, as we move on into acquaintanceship. I will not deny knowing them, but I also do not cherish them anymore as I did in days past.
So long, mate, we had a good time!
